Ministry Messages

Introduction

We now have a selection of ministry messages available here for download or to be ordered on CD. Please select the required page from the menu to the left.

Full Download Library

A wider range of downloads is available, including most sermons from September 2007 onwards. Access to this area requires login with a username and password. If you are personally known to us then you are welcome to register for access to this area.

PowerPoint Slides

Many talks are now accompanied by a set of PowerPoint slides and these are normally made available for download alongside the corresponding audio recording. Where possible these are converted to PDF format for ease of viewing. Sometimes however the file is too large to be viable as a downloadable item, in which case a ZIP archive is generated containing all the individual slides as JPEG images.

Large Files

A problem has been identified in that a large file (above about 15 or 16 MB) is liable not to donwload. The cause is as yet unknown and is currently under investigation. Only a small number of files are affected (a typical 45 minute sermon being only about 8MB anyway) and where possible these files have been split into multiple components for download. If you have any problems with downloads please let Andrew Perry know immediately. Any unsplit files of more than 16 million bytes (15.26MB) will display the size in red as a warning.

Recording Mode

The original recording mode is indicated against each message as either T (tape) or D (digital). Please note that for tape recorded messages there is likely to be a small break in continuity where the tape was turned over.

Recordings on Tape

Please note that services are no longer being recorded on to tape. Whilst we do have the facilities to produce copies of recordings on tape (audio cassette or VHS video), this is no longer our preferred method of production due to lack of time and resources. If however you have special cirumstances requiring a tape recording, please contact Andrew Perry directly.

MP3 Tagging

All MP3 files are automatically tagged in a systematic manner to help keep your media library organised (on a technical note only ID3v2 tags are used). The following points should be noted regarding individual tags:-

  • Artist - This is normally set to "Longcroft Christian Fellowship" for meetings held at Longcroft and to "Christian Fellowships" for meetings held elsewhere (e.g. Rora, New Year Conference).
  • Album - For regular Sunday and Tuesday meetings at Longcroft, recordings are organised as one album per month with the album name taking the format "Longcroft yyyy mm". Other recordings normally relate to specific series for which albums are created with descriptive names. Some regular Sunday and Tuesday meetings are listed twice in the library because they also form specific series of sermons (e.g. David Vine's "People of God" series). In these cases, membership of the monthly album takes precedence.
  • Track - This is normally allocated sequentially within each album. Worship sessions, because of their temporary nature, are all set to track 99.
  • Year - This is set accordingly.
  • Title - This normally includes the date, speaker name and message title.
  • Genre - This is normally set to "Speech".
